Wholesome Wave Congratulates Secretary Vilsack

Wholesome Wave congratulates Secretary Thomas Vilsack on his successful appointment as Secretary of Agriculture of the United Sates, and we thank the US Senate for their swift, bi-partisan approval of his candidacy. We believe Secretary Vilsack is the right person, during the right moment in time, to bring much-needed restorative leadership to the department in a manner that will set a course for growth and continuous improvement as the nation looks toward addressing some of today’s most complex problems facing agriculture.

A broad range of challenges and opportunities face American Agriculture, including nutrition insecurity, climate change, racial inequity, global trade, and more. We believe the Secretary’s significant executive experience, along with his tenure as a Former Secretary of Agriculture, position him as a leader capable of repairing, restoring, and revitalizing the department. Our nation will benefit from a strong, vibrant USDA to effectively address so many important issues that are ripe for reform and meaningful change. We welcome Secretary Vilsack to the task, and pledge to work with him toward a brighter future for American agriculture.
