Michel Nischan Attends, Speaks and Cooks at the Partnership for a Healthier America Summit

Michel Nischan, our CEO and Founder, was in Washington this week at the Partnership for a Healthier America Summit. The event drew food retail and hospitality corporations, with the aim of creating real business solutions that rework America’s food system and solve obesity issues. With an audience of Washington’s notables including First Lady Michelle Obama and influential people in the industry, Michel was able to talk about his vision for the food system and the mission of Wholesome Wave.

Michel prepared a healthful three-course meal for the attendees and did it for less than $4.50 a person; a realistic budget for many Americans. Michel also talked about Wholesome Wave’s goal of  making nutritious, locally grown and raised foods more affordable and accessible for people living with modest means.

Michel spent some time in the kitchen with Allison Aubrey, of National Public Radio, and shared some of his tips for healthy eating on a low or fixed income.

You can read more about the event and Michel’s advice in her blog entry, Frugal Fine Fare: Tips for Three Course Meals on Less than $5 or listen to her NPR piece Businesses Pledge ‘Healthier Choices’ For Customers.
