Chop it Up, the closing night performance and celebration of Wholesome Wave’s Annual New York Gets Fresh! week will take place at the renowned Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) on August 26 at 6pm. Chop It Up!, the ultimate food fight, will highlight the competitive art of performance poetry emphasizing writing and style. Celebrity chefs Michel Nischan, Evan Hanczor, and Joe “JJ” Johnson will slam it out with several well-known poets, including Stephen Colman, Mahogany Browne, Jennifer Johns, and Kelly Zen-Yie Tsai.
